Three Days Grace is a fantastic debut that 100% holds up today. Burn, Drown, Take Me Under, Let You Down, there's so many tracks worth mentioning. Overrated is my favorite album closer from the band, I love the guitar leads and powerful vocals on Wake Up, another favorite of mine, and track five Scared also has an insane guitar intro. The three singles, I Hate Everything About You, Just Like You, and Home are all absolutely fantastic songs that are always worth another listen, Just Like You being my personal favorite.
I'm not even sure where to start with this epic track listing. It makes for a really cool blend and an awesome style much different from what came later.
This record is alternative metal and rock, with influences of grunge and punk. But as I listened more and more, I realized that I much prefer the style of this record to One-X. When I initially went through the band's discography and listened to each record, One-X blew me away, while I honestly wasn't all that impressed by Self-Titled. I'm actually kinda surprised myself at my placement of Three Days Grace. Overall, this is definitely an incredible album that deserves all of the acclaim it's gotten, I just personally prefer the band's debut record and third effort by a bit. I absolutely love the vocals on that song, as well as the guitar. I especially want to single out Time Of Dying, which easily earns a spot in my top five tracks by the band. It's All Over makes for an incredible intro, and Gone Forever is one of the most strongly written 3DG songs IMO. The singles from this album are simply legendary Never Too Late is famed for its lyrical content and vocals, Riot is perhaps just as much of a teen angst anthem as I Hate Everything About You was, and Animal I Have Become is the only song to rival Break as my favorite Three Days Grace song. That doesn't mean this record doesn't have an absolutely killer track list, because it definitely does. But when I sit down and look over the albums and really think about it, I place One-X at third. And believe me, my top three are all very close, just razor thin margins apart. I understand that One-X is the almost undisputed choice for the best Three Days Grace album among fans. Not a bad album, but definitely not good. Me Against You, Villain I'm Not, Love Me Or Leave Me, everything just kind of blends together into this cluster-fuck of mediocre and forgettable. I understand the appeal a lot of people see in Right Left Wrong that makes it a popular single, but personally, the track really isn't my thing. Other than that, there's not really anything worth coming back to in my opinion. I absolutely love The Mountain's chorus, and The Abyss has an incredible scream to close out the track. There are two songs from this record that I like enough to still listen to on a regular basis, and those are The Abyss and The Mountain.
The main issue that I have with Outsider is that almost every track is either forgettable, generic, or downright boring. But I do think that this album has some major flaws that bring it down to last place. No, I am not one of the little bitches who complains about shit like "It's not Three Days Grace without Adam!". No, I do not dislike this record because of Matt Walst.
